On
September 20, 1990 the
Manila Southwoods Golf &
Country Club was officially introduced to the public by its
owners and developer, the Fil-Estate Golf and Development,
Inc.
It
is the first master planned residential development and
championship golf course in the Philippines, comprising 430
hectares.
It
is said to be a masterpiece and a veritable "Garden of
Eden" created by Jack Nicklaus, the 1998 Golfer of the
Century Awardee and designer of 120 other golf courses in five
continents. He
made sure that Southwoods is unique, part of the natural
character of the terrain, modern and classy.
Manila
Southwoods is located at the CALABARZON area of Barangay
Cabilang Baybay, Carmona, Cavite.
It is approximately 34 kilometers south of Metro Manila
via the South Expressway.
The
club features two 18-hole golf courses - east course - the
Masters, and the Legends.
Both are designed for world-class tournament
championship play.
In
addition to the golf club facilities, Manila Southwoods is a self-contained
master- planned community with mixed-use residential and commercial
areas.
With
the Tifton greens
supported by a computerized irrigation system, both courses
are truly all-weather.
All the other materials, like the pea gravel, the top
sand dressing, and the greens mix, were tested and approved by
the U.S. Golf Association.
